BIO

A Mobile, AL native, Chris now calls Nashville, TN home.  A student of the guitar for most his life, Chris’ daily routine while growing up was practice, practice, sleep, eat, go to school, then practice some more.  Playing and singing at church, writing songs at an early age, and performing in talent shows helped lay the foundation in his desire to do music professionally.  After arriving at the University of Mobile, he started honing his crafts while touring and performing, which really fed his love for the road.  After college, he received a phone call and was invited to go on the road and play guitar with contemporary Christian music group, Truth.

After his time with Truth, his focus turned back to the studio, writing songs, recording, and producing, which led to his first record deal with Fairtrade, as a member of CCM pop group, 33Miles33Miles was nominated for “Best New Artist” at the GMA Dove Awards, their song “One Life to Love” won BMI “Song of the Year”, and they’ve had numerous top 10 and top 20 radio singles.  Throughout the years, 33Miles has partnered and shared the stage with artist(s) such as Amy Grant, Switchfoot, MercyMe, Chris Tomlin, Brandon Heath, Casting Crowns, Britt Nicole, Building 429, and many more.

In Fall 2011, Chris recorded & released his first ever solo EP, Coming Alive, followed up by his 2015 release, Heaven on Earth, which was, funny enough, a collection of rough demos of songs he co-wrote with several worship leaders from around the country.  As of late 2016, Chris finally, unashamedly, embraced his love for pop music & throw back R&B/jazz with the release of his single, Turn Up the Music, which also included his first full fledged YouTube music video.  “I, honestly, always wanted to find a way to be a more modern sounding Harry Connick Jr, or Sinatra, kind of artist, but with a guitar in my hand, so I figured ‘better late than never’.”

Among many others, Chris has written songs for 33Miles, Jaci Velasquez, Kutless, Phillips Craig & Dean, Lifeway Christian Resources, TNT Network, among others.

When rarely not working on music, Chris is either spending much needed time with his family, running, reading a good book, or dreaming about the possibilities down the road.

“God is good.  I’m a blessed man.”

“Chris Lockwood is one of my favorite producers. He always has a very distinct vision for how a song will sound when it’s complete. Production is all about vision and fitting the pieces together in bringing a song to life. I would put any song in Chris’s hands and trust that he’s going to nail the direction.  I would highly recommend him, both as a producer and guitarist, to anyone looking to create music that is inspiring.”  (Adam Silverman, Professional Session/Touring Drummer, Band Leader for Lauren Alaina)
